Amerikaanse softwareontwikkelaars moeten hun pijlen meer op de internationale markt richten, aldus eBays Michele Don Durbin. Boekenschrijfter en, sinds kort, weblogster Julia Wilkinson was tijdens de Developer Conference (die vooraf gaat aan eBay Live) aanwezig voor Auctionbytes bij een presentatie over werken op de internationale markt en vat samen:
“(…) international selling surpassed that of national, with 74.9 million users, 432 million listings, and 5.3 billion in GMV (I believe that stands for Gross Merchandise Volume). (…) In general, a recurring theme seemed to be there is a lot of opportunity for eBay developers in other countries, because there are so few existing ones out there. Most sellers simply use eBay’s tools, such as Turbolister. Op Solutions.ebay.com staat een bijzonder uitgebreid overzicht met programma’s en diensten die door derden zijn ontwikkeld. Ergo: programma’s voor kopers en verkopers die niet door eBay zelf zijn ontwikkeld, op basis van onder meer de API (istie weer).
